DID U KNOW??

SCANT 1/4" SEAM
When a pattern calls for a scant 1/4" seam, I move the nee
dle position slightly to the right.  Even though I have the straight stitch throat plate on my machine.  The needle still goes through the hole without any problem and makes a perfect width seam.  I can still use the 1/4" foot, too!!  (Be sure to test this on your machine before sewing to avoid breaking a needle or damaging your presser foot.)

FABRIC SCANS
When collecting fabrics for a project, scan those that you have purchased and note where you got them and how much of each you have.  Take the printouts with you when you shop so you know what you already have for the project.  Small pieces of fabric get lost easily and the printouts can fold into a business card holder for ready use.

THREAD CATCHER
Set a coffee filter on your sewing table to catch loose thread ends.  You can even tip or drop it and the thread stays on it.  Interesting

THREAD KEEPER
A strip of Glad Press'n Seal wrapped around a spool of thread will keep the thread from unwinding.  Be sure to turn under about 1/4" at the end so that it can be easily removed.  It should only be as wide as the threaded portion of your spool.

SKEWER STILETTO
Use a bamboo skewer as a stiletto.  It is light-weight, inexpensive and easy to hold.  Take some to classes and retreats as favors for other participants
